Montgomery

Page history last edited by Matt 13 years, 1 month ago

What is your name?

"My Name? You mean to tell me you don't know? But then why are you - ah, you jest...how droll. Montgomery Chesterfield III as you well know."

What is the origin of your name?

"Well, I am the third Montgomery in the family aren't I? Dear old Dad of course isn't one of us, but grandfather and his father were both Montgomerys. I'm told that My great grandfather was named after one of the barons whose favor was fashionable at court that year. Nothing terribly exciting to that story I'm afraid. Let's move on to the derring-do, shall we?"

Do you use an assumed name or nickname?

"Well my friends call me 'Monty' of course...no my good man, it's still Mr. Chesterfield to you...My enemies seem to believe my name is 'Oh Gods No!' for some reason...ha ha - laugh."

Where are you from?

"Are you sure you're the right scribe? Honestly man, these questions are common knowledge. harrumph, King's Port of course. As you well know...can we move on to my exploits yet?"

Do you like where you come from?

"King's Port? Of course! What's not to love? Good wine, plenty of women - so many of whom are grateful for their rescues and other services rendered on their behalf...why the stories I could tell you. Hmm? No of course I won't actually tell you, what sort of hero do you take me for anyway?"

Were you raised there?

"Oh well, for the most part yes. I was sent to schooling away for a time, and I spent a few years in Kos back in the bad old days as a 'ward' of one of their nobles. Standard stuff, and dreadfully boring. Blah, blah, blah I was a child, blah blah the other children were hopeless until I came along and gave meaning to their lives, etcetera. You know how it is."

How much have you travelled?

"Oh I've been to all corners of the world. Did I ever tell you about my narrow escape at the hands of the sisters of the deep off the coast of the hidden isles in the far sea? No? Another time perhaps."

How do you feel about your family?

"Well we're all good sorts, although not all of my relatives have it in them to leave the luxury of the family estates behind and seek glory and honor outside of our comfortable walls. Understandable really, not everyone can be the hero, eh? Like you - small and weak. No one would really expect you to fight the good fight. That's just nature."

On good terms with them?

"Of course! If any of us starts to wear out our welcome we can always just tour the grounds or visit one of the country estates for constitutional walks and other pleasures."

Who and where are they?

"Are you just fiddling with me now? I'm a Chesterfield, from King's Port. You've heard of us I'm sure."

Why did you become an adventurer?

"Become? Ah-ha, if only it were so. No my good man, a proper adventurer isn't made - it's something you're born with. That's why it's best left to the professionals (for a modest fee of course)."

Name at least one long-term goal you would like to accomplish other than joining a Prestige Class

"Long term goals...long term goals...hmm...doesn't that sound a bit...unheroic? All that planning..."

Do you plan on taking a Prestige Class (which one)?

"I've looked into some of these gentlemen's clubs, but honestly I haven't found any that are suitable for one of my obvious talents yet. I remain hopeful that such a fraternal brotherhood of mutual admiration may one day be mine, but for now I must walk a solitary path. It's quite lonely when I'm not entertaining my many friends and hangers on, let me tell you."

What about that class appeals to your character?

"Ha-ha, my good man for a scribe you don't listen very well."

Name at least one short-term goal

"Didn't I hear that a band of bugbears had kidnapped the Amber Countess' only daughter? She's quite lovely I'm told, and her daughter even more so. I shall rescue them both. Repeatedly if need be, until all parties are well satisfied. Hmm? The Countess is still here in her estate? Right you are. Look at that, one rescue done and we haven't even finished drinking."

Who likes you? Friends?

"A much better question would be 'does anyone not like you?' your question would take all night to answer. And it's boring, let's move on."

Are you married or romantically involved? Who?

"You cad, that's none of your affair. It's mine. Or rather, they are. The affairs I mean."

Who doesn't like you?

"Ah, see? Much better question yes? Well, let's see...no one worth caring about obviously...Monsters of course, but then they hate everybody. There was that western merchant whose wife wouldn't stop giving me gifts, he seemed somewhat jealous and then there were those guardsmen who kept betting against me when I arm wrestled those ogre chieftans and did I ever tell you about that? These three ogre chieftans walked into a bar, and I just happened to be on my way out..."

Any enemies that could cause trouble later on?

"HA! Not likely is it? I mean look at me."

Any organizations that you might have upset?

"Oh, who keeps track any more. After you've broken up as many bands of brigands, merchant guilds, small armies and island nations as I have it all sort of blurs together. I'm sure none of those people bear a grudge though. I mean, would you?"

Name at least one leisure activity you enjoy

"Wine. And spirits. And dancing with beautiful girls. And fighting. Fighting counts right?"

Name at least one thing, event, creature, person or place that terrifies you

"Ahhaha, no. I mean I know a lot of things. More than most, but you ask the impossible."

What is your schtick?

"Would you need a schtick if you were me?"

Do you have a catchphrase?

"Sounds so plebeian, catch a phrase a catchy phrase, watch out for the catch phrase don't let it catch you. Have you heard about my thrilling escape from the donjon of the demon prince Frazzex? I had only a bootlace and a ball of clay I made from the so called food that my jailors had fed me..."

What is your particular idiom?

"Ha, you really are a funny little person. Look at you, it's amazing you can hold that quill upright with those tiny little arms, you should really get out more and excercise. Did you have a question?"

Religion?

"I'm all for it. Some of my best friends and enemies are religions or religious or what have you."

What deity and/or philosophy do you follow?

"Kord, god of athletics, sports, brawling, strength, and courage. What's not to love about a god who has everything worth living for in his grasp like that?"

How devout are you in your worship (if any)?

"Well, I'm quite busy living up to the tenets of Kord's faith, so everything I do is really a form of worship if you look at it from a certain perspective."

Do you have any personality quirks?

"Ha, no. Those are for midgets and peasants."

What is your favorite food and/or drink?

I like strong heady wines and imported cheeses. Some of the dwarven blues are just amazing, which reminds me of the time I..."

Do you have a strong sense of duty and loyalty?

"Well, I suppose. I mean, I must right?"

What is the most admirable thing about you?

"That's really hard to say...but I suppose the MOST admirable thing about me is just how admirable I really am. I mean - I don't like to brag, but I am a pretty great role-model for younger people and tiny people like yourself. It must be nice to have someone to look up to like that. I wouldn't really know, but I can imagine it."

What is the least admirable thing about you?

"Well, I'm not really sure. I imagine there must be something there...but no, it eludes me. Oh wait! I suppose that there are probably a lot of damsels who have to settle for less heroic heroes for their rescues and daring escapes from the forces of darkness. I feel so sad for them, but of course I can only be in one place at a time usually."

Name at least one thing you did in the past that you are proud of

"Ha, that's ridiculous. Why don't you tell me your favorite story about me instead? Which of my deeds are YOU most proud to have heard about?"

Name at least one thing you did in the past that you are NOT proud of

"When I was oh...five or six years old I recall (did I mention that I have perfect memory? never forget a thing...it's a blessing and a curse) we played a game of longspear darts in the castle grounds while our parents attended to a meeting of the nobility as we young half-dragons were wont to do, and on this day I happened to throw my spear just a bit too far. I accidentally drove it through the side of a merchant's caravan. The man who died later turned out to have been a traitor to the Empire though, so we all had a good laugh about it. At the time though I remember being quite frustrated by the whole endeavor."

So what are you like?

"Well, I am who I am. Brave, tall, stalwart, daring and devilishly handsome. What's not to like?"
